Install on Windows

Three steps, about a minute.

  1. 1Open the downloaded fileDouble-click cadenza-0.3.2-windows-x86_64-setup.exe in your Downloads folder.
  2. 2Follow the installerInstall just for you (no administrator rights) or for everyone. Add a desktop shortcut if you like.
  3. 3Start CadenzaFind it in the Start menu. Your .cdz projects open with Cadenza from now on.

Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” because the app is not signed yet. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Install on macOS

Three steps, about a minute.

  1. 1Open the downloaded fileDouble-click cadenza-0.3.2-macos-universal.dmg. It works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. 2Drag Cadenza to ApplicationsDrop the Cadenza icon onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.
  3. 3Open it the first time with right-clickIn Applications, right-click Cadenza and choose Open, then Open again. After that, open it normally.

The app is not signed by Apple yet, so a normal double-click is blocked the first time. Right-click › Open solves it.

Install on Linux

Three steps, about a minute.

  1. 1Make the file runnableRight-click the AppImage › Properties › allow running as a program.
  2. 2Double-click to startNo installation needed. Keep the file anywhere you like.
  3. 3Want a menu entry?Use the one-line installer under “Other ways to install” below. On Arch, install cadenza-bin from the AUR.

Audio uses ALSA, which almost every Linux desktop already has. If you hear nothing, install libasound2.

  • macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel
  • Linux x86_64 with ALSA (most desktops have it)
  • Headphones or speakers. A microphone or MIDI keyboard is optional.
  • Internet only for the AI producer
